Project “Changing Work Mobility – Third Workplaces” 2022–2025
Coworking spaces now play an important role in urban development, as they provide workspaces and infrastructure and enable flexible collaboration. At the same time, coworking spaces enhance a location’s appeal as a hub of creativity and innovation and make a valuable contribution to alleviating mobility pressure in the region, particularly in relation to Munich. Keyword: Avoiding mobility pressure!
Against this backdrop, EMM e.V. is dedicating a three-year project to the topic of “Work Mobility in Transition.” The project is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development, and Energy as part of regional management;
the goal is to test new forms and locations of work in the Munich metropolitan region and identify pilot sites for working close to home.
Work mobility in the Munich metropolitan region: Thousands of workers commute daily to central workplaces in the Munich metropolitan region.
The disadvantages are obvious: high environmental costs, health risks from years of commuting, and a loss of quality of life.
Alternatives are available: the COVID-19 pandemic has shown that decentralized work is feasible. In coworking spaces specifically designed to meet the needs of employees, workers can work on selected days and thus enjoy all the benefits. Ideally, these spaces are located close to home, enabling users to have shorter commutes and, consequently, a higher quality of life.
The project aims to establish suitable locations. To this end, there are offerings for municipalities, employers, and operators of coworking spaces.
Further information about the project will be available here as the project progresses.
